Why Debt Isn't Your Fault (and what you can do about it)
But what is a secret is that so many folks are being scammed by banks, by politicians., and by many "debt settlement" companies.
It isn't your fault.
And I finally grew upset about it and did something about it. And you can too.
It's time to turn things around, for the little guy, Joe Consumer, to have the edge.
Why do "debt settlement" companies often hurt more than they help?
Debt settlement companies collect a fee for helping people settle their debts. There are some legit companies out there but most of them spend big money advertising. You see them on TV and hear them on the radio.
They actually don't do much. They collect big fees and then wait until the credit card companies offer settlements. Then they accept those offers and pass them along to their clients.
But the clients, people like your or me, we'd get those offers if we didn't pay thousands to the settlement companies. Settling debts is EASY. And if we settle our own debts, we can do so in a way to actually repair or save our credit score in many cases. The debt settlement companies couldn't care less about our credit score.
And, if we settle our own debts, we can often get a much better settlement. Why? Because we care more. The debt settlement companies take the easy way out. They accept too often whatever the banks offer. They are into easy settlements even if those are not in your best interests.
So my system of debt settlement is simple. Easy as pie in fact. And it can get you a far better deal than you can get if you fork over money to those debt settlement companies.
And that's good. Because it turns out there is a lot of money in helping people settle debts and start living the way God intended.
But before you listen to another word from me, you should know who you are listening to and who I am…

How I got into the business of helping people become debt free, and how you can too
Hi, my name is Richard Geller and I've been helping thousands of people get out of debt and work out lower payments for their mortgages.
I want to tell you about a business that is set to explode. The business I'm in. And why you can get in it too. Why I'm willing to share this information with you and not keep it all to myself. And how you can go about exploring it to see if it would work for you or not.
In August, 2007, I sat down and created what has become the best selling course on the web that covers mortgage relief, credit card debt settlement, loan modifications, and even selling your house in 9 days even when "nothing is selling."
That course is called Mortgage Relief Formula and thousands of copies of my courses have been snapped up and continue to be purchased today. I really struck a nerve and thanks to that, I've been quoted in the New York Times, and in newspapers and radio and all over the place.
If you Google my name, "Richard Geller" you'll see what I'm talking about.

And here is the first time I was quoted in the New York Times — they even put my website in the article as a resource for people:

See my name there? I am quoted all over the place as an expert on mortgage and debt relief.
So why do I bring this up? It isn't to brag. I don't need to brag.
I am bringing in six digits a month helping folks help themselves get out of debt. Why should I brag?
I only bring up my success to demonstrate that there is a ton of money in the business of helping people get themselves out of debt and that I can prove there is cuz I've been making that kind of money myself.
But that leaves one question you may have nagging at you…

Why I am willing to share this with you and not keep it to myself?
My business has on some months doubled over the previous month. But there are millions of people, maybe 20 million, who need mortgage and debt relief. And they are turning now to often worthless solutions for help. And I can't keep up with everyone. I can't even keep up with 1% of the folks who need my help.
So I thought about it and realized that I could help people on a larger scale if I trained people to become debt workout coaches, and helped them help other people.
It's like the thing about "give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, he feeds himself for a lifetime." If I can train you to do what I do, then you can go out and help others. You can make money and other people who wouldn't otherwise get the help, can get it thanks to you.
So that's the idea here. I am going to teach you to help others get out of debt. You can use the techniques to get yourself out of debt. And you can be the example for others. Even before you actually get out of debt, you can be making money helping others, is my thought. And helping your friends, family and clients so you are a hero to them.
So my deal here is to provide you the tools to become a Debt Workout Coach.
What do you do as a Debt Workout Coach?
What you'll do is talk to folks and get them into classes they can take either over the Internet or in person, so they can learn how to modify their mortgage loan, how to slash or eliminate their credit card debts, and how to teach others to do the same thing.
This isn't multi level marketing or "network marketing." I don't believe in that. This is a legitimate opportunity to offer people around you courses and help so they can quickly see the truth and get themselves out of debt, and so they start saving money and becoming self sufficient and wealthy enough to afford vacations, retirement, college for their kids…all without debt.
Look around you. Everyone practically is up to their eyeballs in debt. And you can help. Your next question will be, "what does it take to become a Debt Workout Coach and can I do it?" So I've prepared a few things to help you.
I have prepared a class workbook that has some things in it you will find useful. Simply enter your name and email into the box and then you can download the class workbook. And when you do, I will also show you how you can check out the market for yourself and make sure this is something that you can really do. (Worst that happens is you can get yourself, your friends and your family out of debt. But I want you to do this as a business. So I am going to show you how to check into the business side of things, by showing you how you would be finding clients for your business.)
Next step, put your name and email in and then I'll give you the class workbook totally free, and show you how to check into this business for yourself.

Just saw your video, could you please advise.
FACTS:
- We are jointly in cc debt $115,000.00 with Chase & Citibank
- Just lost my job
- Wife is currently unable to work
- No assets, no car, no house
- We have quite a number of dependents
- Lawyer has prepared filing for Chapter 7 though we have not submitted it yet.
- We are currently 2-3 months in default of our cc payments.
QUESTION:
- If we qualify for Chapter 7 does it makes sense to try to get loans from family & friends to try to SETTLE with cc debt?
- Is it possible to settle debt with cc bank (@ say less than 30%)
- And what are the chances to have settlement permanently taken off credit report later or as part of agreement w/cc bank.
- If yes can the defaults also be removed from the credit report.
Thanks in advance
michael
Michael, thanks for your comment. It is quite possible to settle credit card debt with banks for as little as a dime on the dollar. Sometimes they will sue. Sometimes it takes a bit of time, such as 8 to 12 months. But it is quite normal to be able to settle. And you can have them report positively or remove derogatory reports on your credit in many cases as a condition of the settlement.
It is always possible to file for bankruptcy later on. Your lawyer can give you the options and make suggestions as to timing.
I like lawyers who give choices and outline the alternatives. Perhaps your lawyer has done so.
I hope you find work quickly and get back on your feet.

Richard,
I can't find another way to email you. I have been all over your sites for the last week. I am a mortgage broker in Texas and I am trying to learn about helping clients that can't qualify for refinancing to do a modification. I am intrested in your program but I am that guy that doesn't beleive a think I see on the web. Do you have a testimonial section or do you have a small list of members or clients that have used your teaching to help others.
I want to know if it's that easy.
Thanks so much for your time.
Thank you. I just added a video where I open the veil and show you what people are saying — good and otherwise. Take a look at this video with customer case studies.

Richard, I came across your website and found it interesting. I am currently Underwater on my mortgage and would like to know what is the best way to get out of this situation. Is it better to walk away? I am not a broker, so what course would help or is there any assistance available from your company.
Thanks for your question, San. This is such a common question. I will hope to address it on the webinar that we'll be inviting you to shortly.

need help asap with trying to eliminate or get a reduced settlement on a government student loan wiith no more available forebearance left. original debt was 43k and now with years of interest at over 75k please help
Oh gosh, I am so sorry. These are very hard to deal with. There are several ways to get them reduced but the two methods I am familiar with besides forbearance are 10 years of "service" which gets them written off, and permanent disability. I have not studied much though on this subject so I really have more research to do.
One thing we deal with as a Debt Workout Coach is people's total financial picture, including student loans.

Dear Richard,
I want to help myself/my family, so I can find again peace of mind and follow up by helping others. Right now, my partime working husband 53, and unemployed son 25 and I, working as counselor in the SFUSD luckily with tenure; are under stress.
Our to be foreclosed townhouse has a loan of 320.000(predetory, I can prove) with a current value of 172.000. We need more than a loan modification.
Also, I had hired a credit card debt company for 25.000 we owe, still being called and hussled since their fee and our principal (470.00 amonth) have not reached the level to make them actually work with the bank.
And last not least, I have a student loan (went back to school when 40) which has now reached 180.000 ( 900.00) monthly. I asked for reassesmen based on income and know about the 10 year forgiveness program, but I wonder when can I retire, if jobs are being cut in california, even in public service.
I will be happy to learn as much as I can for self help and to assist others, I will be even more happy if I get an answer from you. Kindly Gina Schuran-Castillo

Dear Richard,
I watched one of your youtube clips. I need your experiance to answer me about my debt. I have a good credit. I don't own a house. I'm not planning to buy one in the next few years. I have credit cards debt of around $30,000. I'm tired of paying for the last 4 years with all the interestes. I'm stuck with them. I don't have extra for myself or my family. Did not take a vacation for the last 4 years wanting to payy off the debt first. I've been calling debt settlment companies here and there, but I ran across your clip. I want to know how can you help me and how can I get out of debt. My encome barely would cover the payment of rent, utilities, credit card bills. I have to work extra to get the money for food and daily life expenses. I tried to call and lower my interests, but no help. I can't consalidate them in one credit card. I need to do something without hurting my credit score? ??
Your score will drop a lot if you settle your debts. But if you do it right, the settlements will cause the score to come back. Imagine how it would be to be completely free of all debt and have a decent credit score.
It is worth it for many people.

Hi Richard:
I have watched several of your videos and they are great! I'm wondering about a loan mod that I am doing for myself. I did the 3 mo. trial period and now they are asking for more information and also requiring me to have a CPA do my P & L statement, which is going to be $500 - $1,000 per business (we have 2). The bank is WaMu, now Chase. Can they make me spend that kind of money to get a loan modification?!
Thanks,
Gena Kirkwood

You could just write up your own Profit and Loss Statement, sign it as true to the best of your knowledge, get a notary to notarize it, and send it in. This is usually accepted by the lenders.

I have to say I was totally depressed before i started listening to your videos and I have bought quite a few of your products. Now I am in the process of dissing 2 credit card companies and feel really great about it. I could care less what these nameless, faceless greedy bastards think asbout me. I would LOVE to help people get out of debt-I know about the cc companies. For example-even with my perfect credit, Chase doubled my payments. I am sueing them and not paying them. I hate credit card companies now and the meglomaniacs that run them. I often think about the people with families and feel real empathy for them.
Thanks, Dee, I am so glad you are fighting back.

Hi Richard,
I live up here in Canada, and I was wondering if any of the programs you offer are applicable to Canadians? If so which programs and do you have anyone in Canada utilizing your methods, let me know, thanks for all the emails.
Cheers,
Pat
The methods are pretty much applicable to Canada. The specifics on programs lenders offer for loan mods change. And the specifics on how to close a short sale change, from US state to state, or from Canada and the US. But the system works in Canada I believe just as well.

Richard,
I have been receiving your emails and info for many months. I am going to utilize your debt relief program on myself as a case study. After the 2007/2008 Real Estate market collapse I am in debt with creditors.
I Have already begun the rebuilding process for I have started a new business and doing very well, but I need to clean up the mess that I have with unresolved credit Card and collectors that have caused my credit report and score to tumble over the last few years. If I can get this to work for me then I can get it to work for most anyone and will do so.
Lets get to work and resolve my credit issues and clean up the mess.
Steve @ 1:51 pm
Hello Richard. First of all, I am really enjoying all the information you have provided for everyone. I know I am grateful. However, I find myself in a terrible position. I need to be my own coach. My credit is shot, I have no job right now - people just aren't hiring, and my real estate career is going slow. I suppose a lot of that is I feel I need to learn as much as possible before actually going out there and doing some deals. But, I really think I may be able to do some short sale negotiating especially after all I have been taught so far. Heck, I am just going to give it a try. The worst the bank can say is no right? Anyway, I would love to get my hands on stuff such as what you are offering, but cannot do that right now? Any way, I look forward to more training calls though. Maybe after I hear enough of them, I will get out there and do something. However, this course would be great as I love to help people as much as I can. This course can help with that.
Thanks for everything
Michelle @ 1:51 pm
I currently enrolled in the monthly free and clear memebership club. Do you have any telephone seminar on the debt relief programs scheduled.?? Thanks
